SERVING

WHY WE SERVE

In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul refers to the church as a ’body with many parts’ and that each part is necessary for the benefit and blessing of the other. At Church@thepeak we rely on all parts of ‘the body’ (the church) contributing to ensure our church can ’live to be and make disciples of Jesus.’

At Church@thepeak we serve not out of compulsion or guilt, but knowing that God served us. He did this by sending Jesus as a servant to die on a cross for us. Therefore, as we serve one another, we are serving the one who served us.

There are many ways you can serve the body at Church@thepeak which are listed below. Please consider the ways in which you would like to serve, and sign up using the form below.

If you need further information, or would like to discuss how best you can serve at Church@thepeak, please indicate this in the form below and a staff member will be in contact to assist you.

Welcoming
As God welcomes us into his family, so we want to welcome regulars and newcomers when we come together to worship. Being part of the Welcoming Teams means arriving at 9.15am to pray and prepare to greet, and continuing to help people get to know each before and after church. There are four roles within the Welcoming Team that include -
  • Gate Welcomer
  • Welcome Desk
  • Kids Sign In
  • Usher
Our Welcome Team also hosts newcomers for hospitality.

Sunday Hospitality
Food and coffee is one of the best ways to make people feel welcome and build relationships. Hospitality involves providing food for morning tea, manning the coffee machine, or cooking BBQ breakfast (monthly), as well as some organizing before and after church. The Sunday Hospitality team includes:
  • Morning Tea Helper
  • Coffee Helper
  • BBQ Brekky Organiser
  • BBQ Brekky Helper

Music Ministry
God encourages us to sing hymns and spiritual songs together. If you have musical ability, we would love you to get involved. You don’t need to be an expert, just prepared to practice and turn up on time for rehearsal at 8:45am.

Kids Talk Presenter
Kids Talk time is a great way to teach the whole family about God. It’s about creatively teaching the big idea from the Bible passage in a fun and memorable way. It takes a little time to prepare and practice, and a desire to share the good news of Jesus with kids.

Set Up / Pack Up
This requires you to turn up at 8.45am and put out the signs, set up tables for morning tea & welcoming, and set out the chairs in the hall.

Tech Support
Help recording and loading our sermons to the website each week.
Prayer Leader
Praying in our gatherings is a great privilege as we come together as a church and speak to our Father in Heaven. Leading prayer during our church meeting involves writing out your prayers (suggested prayer points listed in Elvanto) so that we can collectively praise God, give him thanks, confess our sin, and bring before him the needs of our church, our community, and the wider world.

Bible Reading
We are called to devote ourselves to the public reading of scripture, to preaching and to teaching (1Tim 4:13). Through His word, the Bible, God speaks to us clearly and powerfully. Therefore, reading the Bible in church is an essential part of our gathering each week. You just need to practice reading the relevant passae before the meeting, and read it slowly and clearly for others to follow.

Kids' Ministry
It’s vital for young people to learn about the Lord in an age-appropriate way. Our Kids' Church team plan and run Bible teaching and activities during church time for our kids. Leaders serve for 3 weeks each term. All you need is a cheerful heart that wants to see kids know Jesus more. (WWCC & Safe Ministry training essential)

Scripture Teachers
Scripture is a fantatic opportunity to share teach students at PSPS every week about Jesus. It is also a great way to build connections between students, their parents and church, especially youth group. Lesson materials and training are provided. Scripture happens on Wednesdays between 2:05-3:20pm. (WWCC & Safe Ministry training essential)

Pastoral Care
The Lord tells us that the world will know we are his disciples by the love we show for one another. Pastoral Care is about helping one another - physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It’s a great way to serve if you like to spend 1:1 time with people.

Book Stall Coordinator
We love to make Christian books and devotions available to help encourage others in their faith. This requires visiting Koorong once a term to refresh the books on consignment, and manning the bookstall 2-3 times a term at church on Sundays.
Tech Team/Support
As we continue to gather both online and face to face, we are after some fast learners that would like to join Tech Team. Tasks would include assisting with in church Audio and Zoom streaming, and facilitating Zoom for those at home. No previous experience needed.

Welcoming Team - Hospitality
During these Covid times, we are especially looking for people to be part of a team willing to invite new and fringe people over for hospitality with other church members to help them integrate into the life of church. If you would like to be part of this team, please let us know on the form below.

Welcoming Team - Other
As we prepare to begin meeting again after COVID-19 restrictions, we are keen to beef up our Welcoming Team. If you are able to warmly greet, welcome, and help integrate newcomers to church, we'd love to see you being part of this ministry.

Discipleship Mentors
One our key focus areas is discipling our youth and young adults. We are looking for people who are willing to meet up regularly with some of our young people and read the Bible and help them grow as a follower of Jesus. You would receive regular training, support, and resources to help you along the way.
