MISSION IMPOSSIBLE? ACTS 1-10
The book of Acts is not simply the history of the early church, but the history of the mission of the early church. While Acts does give us an insight into the dimensions of the life of the primitive church, it is primarily interested in showing us the spread of Christianity – how it broke through barriers of all sorts to change lives, families, cities, and people.
Of course the mission to take the gospel to the ‘ends of the earth’ (Acts 1:8) continues today through us. While this is challenging in our context, it is encouraging to learn from Acts that the early disciples had many more barriers and hurdles to overcome than us today.
Even more encouraging is, because it’s God’s mission, the gospel continued to spread despite the opposition and persecution. What might look like ‘Mission Impossible’ to us, is actually ‘Mission Unstoppable’ to God.
Join us this term as we look at Acts 1-10.
